Reducing your fees and charges

Depending on how you do your banking, it's easy to end up paying hundreds of dollars each year in bank fees. However, you can also save hundreds of dollars a year with CCU by changing your banking habits or restructuring your accounts.

Here are some general tips to help you reduce your fees and charges:-

  Take advantage of fee exemptions or rebates you're entitled to. Consider consolidating your accounts from other Financial Institutions into one account which may qualify you for transaction discounts with our Member Rewards Program*.
  Try to avoid over the counter transactions and take advantage of CCU's cheaper electronic transactions such as VISA or EFTPOS.
  If you need to transfer funds, use our Internet Banking, Telephone Banking or BPAY services which are usually free.
  If you are paying for a purchase with your CCU Visa card (and don't want to take any cash out), select the "CR" option - it's a free transaction.
  If you need to withdraw cash plan your expenditure this way you make larger but fewer withdrawals.
  Pay your bills using our BPAY service via Internet Banking or Telephone Banking.
  Be sure you have available funds linked to your account (eg. An Overdraft Credit Facility) to avoid overdrawn fees.
  Instead of withdrawing cash to make purchases, use the CCU Visa credit card with interest-free days to make as many purchases as possible. Each month, pay off your credit card statement balance in full by the due date using just one of your free transactions
  Consider switchingall of your banking accounts to CCU. You may be surprised at the savings!
